Real Exam Results

I Sat the PTE Exam in September.
Here Is What Happened.

I used everything I teach on this blog, in the same exam, on the same day. Speaking came back 90. This is the fifth month in a row.

Quick Answer

I sat the official PTE exam on 21 September 2026 and scored 90 in Speaking. This is the fifth month in a row I have scored 90, from May through September. I used the same techniques I teach on this blog: the speaking times, the Retell Lecture structure, the Summarize Group Discussion plan, the Respond to a Situation approach, and the essay outline with the 220 word target.

I do not just write about these techniques. I use them, every time I sit the exam, so I know they still work under the current scoring system.

Result — 01Five Months, Five 90s

I sat the exam again on 21 September 2026. Speaking came back 90.

That makes five consecutive months with a Speaking score of 90: May, June, July, August, and now September.

Five PTE Academic score reports from May to September 2026, each showing a Speaking score of 90

Speaking 90 on five consecutive attempts — May, June, July, August and September 2026.

Why Listening and Reading are hidden. On these attempts I do not answer the Listening and Reading questions. I am testing Speaking and Writing only, so those scores are meaningless and I have blurred them out. This is also why the Overall score looks low.

Approach — 02I Did Not Do Anything New

Going into this exam, I did not test a new technique. I used the same methods I already teach on this blog, in the same order I teach them.

That was the point. A technique is only useful if it keeps working, exam after exam, not just the one time it was discovered.

Applied — 03What I Used, Task by Task

Here is exactly what I applied in this exam, and where you can read the full method behind each one.

Speaking times I kept to the timing I teach for every speaking task — around 25 seconds for Describe Image, Retell Lecture and Respond to a Situation, and about one minute for Summarize Group Discussion. PTE Speaking Times: How Long You Should Actually Speak →
Retell Lecture I used the five-step structure instead of freestyling, and stopped once I had said enough rather than trying to fill the full 40 seconds. PTE Retell Lecture: Stop Freestyling and Use a Structure →
Summarize Group Discussion I followed my usual plan: a short introduction, roughly 20 seconds per speaker, calling every speaker "they," and no conclusion at the end. PTE Summarize Group Discussion: How to Structure Your Answer →
Respond to a Situation I reacted the way a real person would, stayed relevant to the prompt rather than worrying about being technically correct, and did not use the full 40 seconds. PTE Respond to a Situation: The Complete Strategy →
Essay I followed the sentence-by-sentence outline and kept my word count above 220. PTE Essay Writing: The Sentence-by-Sentence Outline →

Why It Matters — 04Consistency Is the Real Test

One good score can be luck. Five in a row, using the same method each time, is not.

This is why I keep sitting the real exam instead of only teaching from theory. If a technique stops working, I want to be the first to know, and I want to tell you before you rely on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did you use a new technique in the September exam?

No. I used the same methods I already teach on this blog: the speaking times, the Retell Lecture structure, the Summarize Group Discussion plan, the Respond to a Situation approach, and the essay outline.

How many times in a row have you scored 90 in Speaking?

Five consecutive months, from May to September 2026.

Why is your Overall score lower than your Speaking score?

Because I do not answer the Listening and Reading questions on these attempts. I am only testing Speaking and Writing, so the Overall score is pulled down by two sections I deliberately skipped.

Why do you keep sitting the real PTE exam?

To check that the techniques I teach still work under the current scoring system. A technique is only useful if it keeps working every time, not just once.
